PUP Santa Rosa Campus History

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Santa Rosa Campus, also known as PUPSRC is one of the extension campuses of the PUP system in Laguna, Philippines. It is located in the City of Santa Rosa Laguna, and was established in 2003.

The opening of Polytechnic University of the Philippines in the City of Santa Rosa was sealed through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed between the   Polytechnic University of the Philippines represented by then President, Dr. Ofelia M. Carague and the Municipal Government of Sta. Rosa represented by the late Municipal Mayor, Hon. Leon C. Arcillas on February 21, 2003.Seeing the need to make education more accessible to the students of Santa Rosa City, from its initial intentions, the campus has grown into a productive institution catering to students not only from the City of Santa Rosa, but from other provinces of Region IV-A as well.

The very first building was constructed in the same year and a roster of efficient faculty in various disciplines were hired. Professor Charito A. Montemayor was then assigned as the Director of PUP Santa Rosa Extension. For the pioneering year, three initial, courses were offered, namely Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurial Management, and Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Math and English in the undergraduate level. For the graduate studies the Master in Educational Management (MEM) Open University System was introduced to cater the needs of those teachers in elementary and secondary schools in the City of Santa Rosa  and nearby towns who would like to pursue higher education.

Through the years, PUP Santa Rosa progress in terms of its course offering to cater the rapid growth, preferences of students and changing demands for jobs and within the society. Several resolutions pave way to the approval of the following offered courses namely:

Associate in Health Science Education (AHSE) leading to Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) and Bachelor of Science in Electronics & Communication Engineering (BSECE) through Resolution No. 54-2004 of the Santa Rosa Sangguniang Panglungsod dated April 21, 2004;

Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE), and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration- Marketing Management and Master in Public Administration through Resolution No. 27-2008 dated February 11, 2008;

Bachelor in Business Teacher Education Major in Business Technology and Livelihood Education (BTE) through Resolution No.87-2015 dated April 30, 2015;

Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Filipino through Resolution No.0066-2018 dated April 23, 2018; and

Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting through Resolution No.0120-2020 dated November 25, 2020. 

At present, the Campus offers the following degree programs:

For Twenty Years (20) PUPSRC has already established a legacy of excellence in teaching, research, and service. As a result of effective practice and cutting-edge scholarship, students have access to leaders in the field and benefit from a dynamic education experience that is always in touch with both important traditions and new ideologies.

PUP Santa Rosa definitely grew and expand over the decade. The mapping and the track of the growth of the institution in terms of the graduates and the impressive percentage of passers in the board and licensure examinations, made PUP Santa Rosa as one of the performing campuses of the University. Thus, it became the mark of quality for the institution as one of the productive LGU funded Campus in the City, producing qualified and efficient PUPian graduates.
